Description

Asking questions makes the conversation more engaging and helps it flow more easily. They help build rapport and an exchange of information. The best conversations include a range of questions, however, the number of questions is not the only factor that influences the quality of a conversation. The type of question, your tone, the timing and the framing of your questions also matter. The questions we ask should be appropriate to the situation, the purpose of the conversation, and how well we know the other person. Psychologists Eve Ash and Peter Quarry use examples from real conversations to explain different kinds of questions and ways to use them in conversation.
